Charles B. Fitchet, Capt. USN, Retired, a proud veteran of the United States Navy, passed away suddenly on Saturday, August 19, 2023. Born on August 20, 1947 to the late Mr. and Mrs. William Fitchet, Chuck grew up in Springfield, MA.

At the age of 18, Chuck entered the United States Naval Academy, graduating in 1970. He valued this service highly and attained the rank of Captain. As part of this service he received the Defense Superior Service Medal, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal, Joint Meritorious Unit Award, Navy Unit Commendation, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Defense Service Medal, Naval Aviator and Command at Sea Insignia’s as well as others. Chuck spent most of his Naval career flying for the Navy and later working with the Joint Chiefs. After retiring from the Navy he went on to a second career with Raytheon.

Chuck was a member of the Severna Park Elks Lodge #2482 for 26 years and during that time served on various committees including the House Committee and Board of Directors, many of those ears as Committee Chair. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #175.

Chuck is survived by his loving wife Eileen, son Tim Fitchet (Stacey) and daughter Jennifer Stevens (Duke), granddaughters Abigail Fitchet, Miley Fitchet, Taylor Fitchet, Mallory Fitchet and grandson Kyle Stevens. He is also survived by his two brothers Alan G odin and William “Bill” Fitchet along with many nieces, nephews and close family members. He is preceded in death by his son Charles Baxter Wood Fitchet. His loved ones with always remember his kind and selfless nature, his humor and his unending love for family and friends

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Capt. Fitchet's life on Monday, August 28, 2023 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at Barranco Severna Park Funeral Home & Cremation Care, P.A., 495 Ritchie Highway, Severna Park, MD 21146.

A funeral service will held on Tuesday, August 29, 2023 at noon in the funeral home. Interment will follow in the Crownsville Veterans Cemetery, 1122 Sunrise Beach Road, Corwnsville, MD 21032
